John Joseph Gates, Ph.D., passed away Jan. 15, 2022 from complications of a chronic heart condition.
Dr. Gates was born in Brooklyn, N.Y. Aug. 1, 1940.
William Palmer Milne, III, 81, of Hayesville, passed away Sunday, March 6, 2022. He was born in Louisville, Ky. to the late Rev. William Milne, Jr. and Martha Jo Walters Milne. William had worked as a restaurant manager and trainer.
Mrs. Janet Elizabeth Raleigh, age 101, of Hayesville, NC, passed away from natural causes Wednesday, March 9, 2022, at the Stonehenge Assisted Living facility in Blairsville, GA. She was born Dec. 10, 1920, in Plymouth, MA to the late Antonio and Mable Hughes Perrault. Mrs.
Virginia Lee Guffey Adams, 75, with her family and friends at her side, passed into glory with her heavenly father on Friday, Feb. 11, 2022 from her home in Andrews, N.C.
Virginia was born on Dec. 11, 1946 in Murphy, N.C., the first of five children to Thomas Frank Guffey Sr.
Robert A. Ferrucci Sr., 81, of Brasstown, passed away Monday, Feb. 21, 2022 in a Clay County care facility.

Marilyn Cooper McCollum, 91, of Hayesville, died peacefully and went to be with her Lord and Savior Monday, Feb. 21, 2022. She was born in Lincoln Park, Mich. to the late Harry and Violet Cornell Cooper. Marilyn had worked as a receptionist in a doctor's office.
Karen Rose Cook, 67 of Marble, N.C., passed away Feb. 11, 2022 at Duke Medical Center in Durham, N.C. Mrs. Cook was born Sept. 6, 1954, in Deridder, La. to the late Lester Moore and the late Billie Jean Henson.
Johnny H. Stewart, 71, of Hayesville, passed away Friday, Feb. 18, 2022 at his residence. He was born in Murphy to the late Claude and Ora Belle Stewart. He started Stewart Construction Company and J.H.S. Builders and built homes in Clay County for 50 years.
Edward Landa, 87, of Hayesville, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 22, 2022 in a Macon County hospital. He was born in New Haven, Conn. where he lived for a number of years before moving to Colorado and raised his family. Edward was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the United States Army.
