Garland Russell Roach

Garland Russell Roach, 79, of Hillsborough, Ga. went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Dec. 27, 2021. Russell was formerly of Hayesville, where he was born and raised in the Roach Cove of the Fires Creek area until joining the Army shortly after his high school graduation in 1962.

Bennie Louise Mull Yaus

Bennie Louise Mull Yaus, 87, of Charlotte, N.C., passed away Wednesday, May 25, 2022 surrounded by her loving family. Bennie Louise was born on July 5, 1934 in Hayesville. She was one of eleven children born to the late Joseph and Martha Mull.

Thomas Dewey Lloyd

Thomas Dewey Lloyd, 76, of Hayesville, passed away Monday, May 16, 2022. He was born in Clay County to the late Frank and Frankie Murphy Lloyd. Thomas was a lifelong resident of Clay County and was a member of Fort Hembree Baptist Church.

James “J.C.” Trout

James “J.C.” Trout, 76, of Warne, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Friday, May 20, 2022. He was a native and lifetime resident of Clay County. After “graduating from Ogden University,” as he liked to say, J.C. worked as a telephone contractor for 23 years.

Glen Teems

Glen Teems, 87 of Young Harris, Ga., passed away Sunday, May 22, 2022. He was a native of Clay County and the son of the late Rolin and Ruby Dockery Teems. Glen was a U.S. Army veteran. He served in the Korean War. He was known as the "bread man" and worked for Earth Grain and Kern's.

Frank Junior Dills

Frank Junior Dills, a Clay County native, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, May 19, 2022 at the age of 91. He was born on Sept. 1, 1930, to the late Pauline Brown Dills and the late Frank Dills.

Carol Joan Girard Swenson

Carol Joan Girard Swenson, 80, of Hayesville passed away Saturday, May 14, 2022 in a Clay County care facility. Arrangements are incomplete at this time but a memorial service will be held and announced at a later date. The inurnment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Biddeford, Maine.

Wanda Mary Watkins

Wanda Mary Watkins, 80, of Hayesville passed away Friday, May 6, 2022. She was born in Hayesville to the late Gerald and Fannie Patton Burrell. Wanda had worked in a dress plant as a seamstress. She loved to sew, going to church and was a homemaker.

Robert Alexander Hamilton

Robert Alexander Hamilton, 59, of Andrews, N.C., passed away unexpectedly on May 12, 2022, surrounded by his family. Robert was born in Wilmington, Del. After serving in the U.S. Air Force, he lived in Columbus, Ohio before moving to Andrews to be near his family more than 30 years ago.

Clella Marie Byers

Clella Marie Byers, 94, passed away on Saturday, May 14, 2022, at her home in Hiawassee, Ga. She was a native of Clay County. She was the daughter of the late Thomas Fide and Addie Groves Cable. Her husband, Denver Bruce Byers and sister, Bessie Mae Jones, also preceded her in death.
