Inaugural race postponed

 Promoter Ray Cook announced Monday that he is regrettably forced to postpone the upcoming North Carolina State Championship race that was scheduled for Tri-County Race Track on Friday, Nov. 20.

YHC golfers fare well at Full Moon Invitational

By Michael MacEachern Guest Writer The Young Harris College women’s golf team completed their fall campaign Monday, Nov. 2 at the Full Moon BBQ Invitational hosted by the University of Montevallo. The Mountain Lions had three individuals compete at the event.

It what seems to be a theme for the 2020 season, Tri County Racetrack was again forced to postpone their event. The bonus, nonpoints races originally scheduled for Friday, Oct. 30 were moved to the following night due to a power outage at the track.

Overton brings excitement to Brasstown

“Big Sexy” Brandon Overton continued his stellar 2020 racing season tonight by recording his second straight ‘Tarheel 50’ title at Ray Cook’s Tri-County Race Track.

Students, teachers earn recognition

October’s meeting of the Clay County Board of Educa- tion began with student and staff recognitions. Hayes- ville High School students' Michelle Pegues and Brady Shook received awards for logo designs they submitted to People of Clay CARE.

New court ready for play

I would like to take this time to thank everyone who had a role in making the outdoor access sand volleyball court at the Clay County Recreation Department become reality.

‘Tarheel’ on tap

Nationals Series schedule heats up this week with a visit to Tri County Racetrack in Brasstown. The third leg of the mini-series will take place this Friday night, Oct. 9 as the 17th Annual FK Rod Ends ‘Tarheel 50’ will boast a $10,000 payday for the ground-pounding Super Late Models.

The Hayesville High School 2019-20 athletic season ended abruptly in the spring when the COVID-19 pandemic shut down all athletic activities. While things didn’t end the way everyone had hoped, Hayesville was able to focus on a positive thanks to winning the Wells Fargo championship.

COVID stories are unique but all are connected

In a society where seemingly everything can be a tool of division, I think there is one thing we can agree on. The day when COVID is a word lost to history will be a happy one. Whether you’ve had the virus or not, everyone’s life has been impacted in some way.

For the third time this season, fans were forced to wait 24 hours for an event at Tri County Racetrack thanks to rain. After heavy rains pounded Brasstown for two days, track promoter Ray Cook opened the facility gates Saturday, Sept. 26 for the “Tarheel Tune-up.
