Cruisin’ on a Saturday afternoon

The Blairsville Cruisers will host a Cruise-In on the Historic Courthouse Square Saturday, July 18 from 3 p.m.- 7 p.m. Awards will include a Best Jeep plaque and a Club Choice trophy. Door prizes for registered vehicles and a 50/50 drawing will be held.

Chatuge Shores ladies group growing

On Tuesday, July 7 the Chatuge Shores Ladies Golf Association league had the largest attendance this year. The weather was wonderful for the event and all players practiced social distancing. The game of the was “Against All Odds” meaning only odd number holes counted.

A close one at Mountain Harbor

The Mountain Harbor Ladies Golf Association enjoyed a boutique size group of members Thursday, July 9 with 11 participants in the two best net ball contest on even holes. Coming in first place with a 71 and winning $4.

Tri County Racetrack held a rare Thursday night event on July, 9 as promoter Ray Cook and his staff welcomed fans for the make-up of the previously rained out Independence Day Championships.

COVID chops down Braves roster

Last week Major League Baseball began what it’s calling Spring Training 2.0. Along with daily workouts, players also had to undergo daily health screenings. The COVID-19 testing halted workouts for several Atlanta Brave players.

Harvick kisses the bricks at Indy

The NASCAR Cup Series rolled into Indianapolis over the weekend for the Brickyard 400 at the famed Indianapolis Motor Speedway. As has been the theme for the season, the race came down to Kevin Harvick and Denny Hamlin with Harvick taking the trophy.

Timber, rain and fireworks at Tri County

For the first time in the 2020 season, fans were allowed to make their way to Tri County Racetrack in Brasstown Friday, July 3. Track promoter Ray Cook planned on welcoming dirt track lovers with the annual Independence Day Championships and fireworks.
