Season over for Lady Jackets

Jackets ousted from Sweet 16 round

The varsity Yellow Jacket basketball team from Hayesville High School continued their chase for a championship Thursday, Feb. 27. Hayesville hosted Pine Lake Prep for a second round playoff game in front of large home crowd.

Lady Jackets advance to round two

After being eliminated from the Smoky Mountain Conference tournament, the Lady Yellow Jackets had to return to Rosman Wednesday, Feb. 19 to face Robbinsville in a non-tournament game.

Conference champs eliminate Swain

The Hayesville Yellow Jackets’ Smoky Mountain Conference tournament championship had a little extra meaning. Head coach Mike Cottrell and his brigade faced off with Cherokee Wednesday, Feb. 18 in the final round of the tournament held in Rosman.

Lady Jackets shock Cherokee

Thanks to a pair of wins to end the regular season, the varsity Lady Yellow Jackets are riding a wave of momentum into the Smoky Mountain Conference tournament. Hayesville picked up an easy win in Andrews Monday, Feb.10 by the final of 75-31.

Back-to-back champs

After clinching at least a share of a Smoky Mountain Conference championship, the Hayesville Yellow Jackets hit the road Monday, Feb. 10 on a mission to ensure the title belonged solely to them. The Jackets accomplished that goal with a 63-54 win over Andrews in front of packed stands.

HMS Lady Jackets end season

It seems impossible but the 2019-2020 middle school basketball season has drawn to a close. Hayesville Middle School’s Lady Yellow Jacket team ended their season in the Smoky Mountain Conference championship game against Cherokee.

Hayesville downs Devils

The Lady Yellow Jackets have taken their fans on a ride this season. Hayesville has made a habit of surpassing expectations against quality opponents. That trend continued Friday, Jan. 31 when the Lady Jackets travelled to Swain County to face the Lady Maroon Devils.
