Randall Wayne Cheek

Randall Wayne Cheek, 53, of Hayesville, passed away Thursday, Feb. 4, 2021 at his residence. Randall was the son of the late Wayne and Lougene Allison Cheek. He was a caregiver, enjoyed cooking and family gatherings. He is survived by uncles and aunts, Donald and Merlene Allison, of Jasper, Ga.

Eula Mae Cobb

Eula Mae Cobb, 79, of Hayesville, passed away Thursday, Jan. 28, 2021. She had lived on Qualla Road most of her life. She was the daughter of the late Reverend Daniel James “D.J.” and Bessie Griggs Cobb. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Donna Wiggins and a son, Charles K.

Kathy Kitchens

Kathy Kitchens, a wonderfully devoted wife, mother and Nana, of Hayesville, peacefully entered into the gates of Heaven on Jan. 27, 2021. Kathy was born on Oct. 11, 1954 to the late Claude T. and Beatrice Kitchens. Hayesville was her home for most of her life.

Arthur Harvey Smith

Arthur Harvey Smith, 82, of Hayesville, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 26, 2021. He was born in Cherokee County, N.C. to the late Neulan and Bonnie Brooks Smith. Arthur was a driver for Coble Milk. He was a United States Army veteran.

Joann McClure Arrendale

Joann McClure Arrendale, 84, of Hayesville, passed away Sunday, Jan. 31, 2021 in a Clay County Care Facility. Joann began her career in banking with Citizens Bank prior to a merger with Wachovia Bank. She retired as a loan officer after working more than 40 years in banking.

Gary Chamberlain

Gary Chamberlain, 74, of Murphy, passed Friday, Jan. 29, 2021, at a Flat Rock, N.C. hospice facility with his wife, Karen, of 21 years by his side. Gary was born in Vancouver, Wash. to Joe and Arlene Chamberlain . The growing family spent their early years in Nyssa, Ore.

David A. Brose

David A. Brose, 69, passed away peacefully at home in Geisky Creek, N.C. on Jan. 22. Known nationally as a versatile musician, impeccable dresser and long-time folklorist at the John C. Campbell Folk School, David was born in Columbus, Ohio on May 17, 1951.

Rev. James R. ‘Jimmy’ Hogsed

Rev. James R. "Jimmy" Hogsed, 78, of Warne, passed away on Saturday, Jan. 30, 2021. He was born in Clay County to the late Enoch and Ethel Byers Hogsed.

Verene A. Sales

Verene A. Sales, 94, of Brasstown, N.C. passed away at her daughter’s home on Friday, Jan. 22, 2021. She was a lifetime resident of Clay County. She was a member of Sweetwater Methodist Church. She enjoyed working outside in the yard and with her flowers.

Robin L. Scrivens

Robin L. Scrivens, 82, of Hayesville, passed away Monday, Jan. 25, 2021 at a Hayesville care facility. No services are planned at this time. Ivie Funeral Home, Hayesville is in charge of arrangements.
