Edward Donald Woodard

Edward Donald Woodard, 87, of Hayesville, passed away Sunday, March 7, 2021 at his residence. He was a native and lifetime resident of Clay County. He served in the United States Army and was a veteran of the Korean War. Donald owned and operated Woodard’s Grocery for more than 20 years.

Audrey Duckworth Anderson

Audrey Duckworth Anderson, 85, of Hayesville, was called home to be with the Lord Wednesday, March 3, 2021. She was a native and lifetime resident of Clay County. She was a 1954 graduate of Hayesville High School. Audrey then moved to Chattanooga, Tenn.

Emogene Smart Barrett

Emogene Smart Barrett, 81 of Hayesville, passed away on Monday, Feb. 22, 2021. She was born in Clay County to the late John and Ida Belle Barnard Smart. Emogene lived in this area most of her life. She worked in banking for many years and was a secretary at Hayesville High School.

Louis Daniel Cook

Louis Daniel Cook, 88, of Hayesville, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 23, 2021 at his residence. A Celebration of Life will be held at Shady Grove Baptist Church with the Reverend David Feathers officiating and will be announced at a later date.

Rebecca ‘Becky’ Grizzle Eggert

Rebecca “Becky” Grizzle Eggert, 66, of Hayesville, formerly of Dahlonega, Ga., went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, Feb. 17, 2021 following an extended illness. A Celebration of Life will be held at Foothills Fellowship in Dahlonega and will be announced at a later date.

Rosalind Cole

Rosalind Cole, 89, of Murphy, passed away on Monday, Feb. 15, 2021 at a Hayesville care facility. A graveside service will be held 1:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 21 at Garden of Memories Cemetery in Tampa, Fla. Ivie Funeral Home, Murphy: www.iviefuneralhome.com is in charge of local arrangements.

Lila Elizabeth ‘Betty’ Jackson

Raul “Rudy” Araiza, 75, of Hayesville, died Saturday, Feb. 13, 2021 at Care Partners Hospice in Asheville.  Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian, Arden, N.C. is in charge of arrangements.

Betty Lou Dailey Lewallen White

Betty Lou Dailey Lewallen White, 89, of Cornelia, Ga., went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Feb. 3, 2021. Mrs. White was born Betty Lou Dailey on June 6, 1931 in the Tusquittee Community, of Hayesville, to the late Millard (Mitch) and Carrie Bell Garrison Dailey.

Taylor Gail Thurmond

Taylor Gail Thurmond, 26, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 18, 2020 Taylor was a sweet and loving soul; she had a loving personality and never met a stranger. She was currently pursuing her dream of becoming a cosmetologist.
